Bulawayo had been an eye witness for electrifying match between Zimbabwe and the Bangladesh for their 4th ODI. The first innings saw a superb display of cricket from Zimbabwean player Charles Coventry who not only scored his maiden century but when on to finish the Zimbabwean innings in a style.

The team posted a mammoth (looked like unachievable target to me honestly) total of 312 for 8 in 50 overs. Coventry alone contributed 194 (he remained unbeaten) smashing the ball over the ropes to all sides (though the right-handed batsman looked more comfortable the leg side). He hit 7 sixes and about 16 fours in his 194.

From what looked like a difficult task, Bangladesh batsman started off very well. Their opener Tamim Iqbal looked in great touch and he scored 154 runs. He was well supported by opening partner Junaid and others as well. The cameo innings by Shakib Al Hasan and Mohammad Mahmudullah made the mammoth chase also easy and the Bangladesh could achieve it with 13 balls sparing.

The two teams meet in Bulawayo on August 18, 2009 at the Queens Sports Club for the 5th ODI, and the hosts will play to win to have them save for grace while the Asian team doesn’t seem to have become complacent and are playing decent cricket in the recent times. They will play for a clean sweep and it looks to be the likely result as well.
